Ko Tao and Langkawi

So the last time I wrote I had just arrived in Ko Tao. It was a lovely island in Thailand and was very relaxing. One day we took a taxi (which was a boat!) to a tiny island called Nang Yuan. We got absolutely soaked in the taxi boat because the waves were really big and the boat was only small!
No one lives on the island and it was just a strip of very white sand with the sea all around it. Some people were swinging over it on a zipwire! I have sent you a postcard with a picture of the beach on it.

After Ko Tao we wanted to get from the islands off the East of Thailand to an island off the west of Malaysia called Langkawi. It was a very long journey and it took two days to get there! We had to get 3 ferries, 2 buses and a taxi. There was a storm whilst we were on the first ferry and it was tipping from side to side :s but boats are designed to do that so it was ok, we felt dizzy when we got off though!
Then when we were travelling in the taxi one of the towns had flooded because there had been so much rain. Our car looked like it was floating and lots of children were swimming up the road next to us! We got through the flood and then after another ferry we arrived on Langkawi which is an island in Malaysia.

Langkawi was very beautiful and lots of it was covered in rainforest (the shooting stars will know about the rainforest). We went on a boat to look at some of the smaller islands around it - there are 99 altogether.
One of the islands has lots of eagles living around it and we watched them swoop down to the water to try to catch their food. As we were walking along one of the paths we suddenly spotted about 30 monkeys! They were all along the path playing together and one jumped up and took a ladies packet of crisps to eat!

There are all sorts of animals here, especially lots of geckos - see if you can find out about them. They make a funny clicking noise so you know they are there even if you can't see them. They come out at night and they like to sit near the lights.

Whilst we were on Langkawi I also went on a jet ski...I've never been on one before but it was lots of fun. You bounce up and down with the waves and can go really fast.

Mrs Thomas tells me that you have all had a fantastic start to the year which is brilliant, well done

Speak soon,

love Miss Thompson xx

P.s thanks for your comments Christopher, I'm glad you're passing on my news to the shooting stars and that you love your new class.
